Belongs within: Spirotricha.
Contains: Strombidinopsidae, Tintinnina, Strobilidiidae.
The Choreotrichida are a group of ciliates united by a closed adoral zone of membranelles (secondarily opened slightly in Parastrombidinopsis) and hypoapokinetal stomatogenesis in a pouch. Representatives include Leegaardiella in which the collar polykinetids are bipartited whereas in other taxa they are continuous (Agatha & Strüder-Kypke 2007).
