Ambates

 Ambates leopardinus, from the Smithsonian Institution.

Belongs within: Conoderinae.

Ambates is a genus of weevils found in the Amazon region.

Characters (from Casey 1922): Beak arcuate, cylindric, antennae inserted at about middle of beak; anterior coxae contiguous; tibiae pluricostulate; claws arcuate, free; elytra not laterally carinulate, ornamentation circumambient.
