Ataxophragmiidae

Lateral and apertural views of Arenobulimina presli, from Loeblich & Tappan (1964).

Belongs within: Loftusiida.

The Ataxophragmiidae are a group of agglutinated Foraminifera known from the Lower Cretaceous to the present. Most species have three or more chambers to a whorl in early stages, often increasing in number with growth or uncoiling and spreading to form a low conical test. The interior bears internal pillars and partitions (Loeblich & Tappan 1964, as Ataxophragmiinae). The Ataxophragmiinae have high chambers turned to the axis of coiling (Mikhalevich 2013).
