The Cleidogonoidea are a group of millipedes with smooth sides on the metazona (Hoffman 1990).
Characters (Hoffman 1990): Adults with 28 or 30 body segments; collum small, not concealing head; tergal surface smooth and polished, or elevated into low, smooth tubercles; metaterga with well defined median longitudinal suture; metazona not produced into paranota, sides smooth; ozopores absent; mentum of gnathochilarium transversely divided, with small triangular promentum set off; ninth and tenth pairs of legs with coxal sacs in males.
