Belongs within: Tubulariida.
The Corynoidea are hydrozoans in which both stenotele and desmoneme nematocysts are present in medusae but only stenoteles are present in polyps (Petersen 1979).
Characters (Petersen 1979): Medusa with stenoteles and desmonemes; polyp with stenoteles only, capitate oral tentacles may be present in one whorl or spread down hydranth, aboral tentacles filiform (often reduced); mesogloeal lamella continuous over tentacle bases, separating endoderm of gastric cavity from that of tentacles.
