Ctenistes

Ctenistes palpalis, from Reitter (1908).

Belongs within: Pselaphitae.

Ctenistes is an Old World genus of pselaphine beetles in which males bear a particularly large antennal club of four segments (Raffray 1904).

Characters (Raffray 1904): Body elongate. Antennae long, males with club very large, of four articles, articles 3–7 very small and usually less long together than club, females with club more or less distinct, antennae gradually thickening. Maxillary palps of four articles; first article very small, but visible; articles 2, 3, 4 penicillate; last article transverse, with a lateral appendage, its internal apical angle being rounded, muticate. Underside of head absolutely simple.
