Belongs within: Armadillidae.
Cubaris is a cosmopolitan genus of woodlice with poorly differentiated volvation structures (Vandel 1973).
Characters (Vandel 1973): Head with face extending upwards into low, slightly projecting frontal blade; frontal shield recognizable though poorly defined; secondary marginal line continuous, on each side, with frontal margin. Pronotum large, surface area equal to one-fifth, or even one-quarter, of total surface area of segment. Posterior margin of pereionites curved, the curvature taking on an angular appearance on first two segments. Pleurepimere I thin, neither grooved nor cleft. Lower surface of pleurepimeres I and II bearing small lobe (Verhoeff’s endolobe), acting as stop for following segment during volvation. Telson narrowed in middle, giving an hourglass shape. Uropod with exopodite well developed.
