The Dothideomyceta are a diverse clade of fungi with fissitunicate asci (Schoch et al. 2009). The larger number of representatives are included within a Dothideomycetes, in which ascomata are formed lysigenously from stromatic tissue, asci usually lack apical structures, and anamorphs are hyphomycetous or coelomycetous (Adl et al. 2019).
