The Gekkonidae, geckos, are a family of lizards found worldwide. Geckos have very small, flat scales, so their skin has a leathery appearance. They generally have large eyes, often without lids, and have expanded tips to their toes that allow them to climb on sheer surfaces. The undersides of the toes bear an enlarged series of subdigital lamellae, and the scales on the upper side of the toes above the distal expansions are much larger than those at the base of the toe (Cogger 2018).
