Belongs within: Clathurellidae.
The type subgenus of the genus Glyphostoma is an assemblage of conoid gastropods found in tropical regions of the Americas (Powell 1966).
Characters (Powell 1966): Shell small to moderately large, 4.5–18 mm, fusiform-biconic, solid, whorls angular or rounded, to bulging, but constricted at sutures. Spire height usually greater than that of aperture plus canal. Protoconch of about three whorls, tip small, without sculpture but strong keel developing at second whorl. Aperture usually long and narrow, with short anterior canal, which is slightly recurved and notched at termination. Outer lip strongly variced, both outer and inner lips heavily sculptured with denticles and ridges. Anal sinus on shoulder slope, wide, deep, often rim-margined, fasciole with strong growth wrinkles and obscure spirals. Sculpture of strong axial ribs crossed by spiral cords and threads. Radula consisting of pair of very long and slender curved marginals.
