Belongs within: Diaphoretickes.
The Ischyrospongia were originally recognised as a grouping of hypercalcified sponges including the sclerosponges and stromatoporoids. Some subsequent authors have also placed a number of Palaeozoic microfossils of uncertain affinities within this taxon. These include the Moravamminida in which the test is divided by septa or pseudosepta and has a calcareous, hyaline wall. The Claracrustinae form encrusting colonies with skeletal elements composed of large horizontal laminae and sometimes vertical pillars (Vachard et al. 2001).
