Meranoplini

 Nesomyrmex angulatus, from AntWiki.

Belongs within: Myrmicinae.
Contains: Crematogaster, Meranoplus.

The Meranoplini is a group of ants with a compact mesosoma and nine-segmented antenna. Members include Mayriella, an Indo-Australian genus characterised by deep, elongate antennal scrobes capable of accomodating the entirety of the antenna, together with elongate eyes with a narrow, oblique lower section (Heterick 2009). Pristomyrmex is a Palaeotropical genus of medium-sized ants with a round head bearing several denticles on the anterior margin of the clypeus, and eleven-segmented antennae in the female castes with a three-segmented club (Yamane & Terayama 1999).

Characters (from Tree of Life): Mesosoma short and compact. Promesonotum forming a shield that overhangs the pleurae laterally and usually overhangs the propodeum posteriorly. Antennae with 9 segments, with a 3-segmented club.
