The Palmatolepididae are a Late Devonian group of conodonts typically possessing a sexi- or septimembrate skeletal apparatus including broad, scalelike carminiplanate Pa elements, with profusely nodose or pustulose upper surfaces and a short free blade (Sweet 1988).
