Pleurogona

Belongs within: Urochordata.
Contains: Polycarpa.

The Pleurogona are a group of tunicates characterised by a folded pharyngeal basket, and the lack of an abdomen. Branched tentacles are present around the base of the branchial siphon in Pyuridae and Molgulidae, whereas these tentacles are unbranched in Styelidae.
