Rakaia is a New Zealand genus of mite-like harvestmen possessing a strong ventral process on the palp trochanter (Boyer & Giribet 2007).

Characters (Boyer & Giribet 2007): Ozophores in dorsal 45° position. Eyes present,incorporated into ozophores either with or without lenses. No projections surrounding gonostome. Scopulae present on anal plate, or scopulae originating from tergite VIII. Ventral process present on palp trochanter. Robust ventral process of chelicera absent. Conspicuous longitudinal apodeme on second cheliceral segment. Lack of solea in tarsus I.
