Ramphastidae

Belongs within: Piciformes.
Contains: Pteroglossus.

The Ramphastidae include the toucans, Neotropical frugivorous birds with distinctive large, canoe-shaped bills. Many authors also include the pantropical barbets in this family. The larger toucans are included in the genus Ramphastos, species of which have black wings, tails and thighs.
