Rotaliporidae

Hedbergella delrioensis, from here.

Belongs within: Globorotaliida.

The Rotaliporidae are a group of planktonic Foraminifera known from the Cretaceous. The primary aperture is more or less umbilical and marked by a prominent lip. Secondary sutural apertures may also be present on the umbilical side. The genera Clavihedbergella and Praeglobotruncana lack secondary apertures though the lips of previous chambers remain as projections into the umbilical region (Loeblich & Tappan 1964b).

Characters (Loeblich & Tappan 1964b): Coiling trochospiral; primary aperture extraumbilical-umbilical, with relatively prominent lip; may have secondary sutural apertures on umbilical side opening into posterior margin of chambers.
