Belongs within: Dionycha.
Contains: Spartaeinae, Salticinae.
The Salticidae, jumping spiders, are a group of actively hunting spiders with well developed vision, characterised by large and anteriorly directed anterior median eyes. Members include the Neotropical genus Lyssomanes, translucent yellow or green jumping spiders with long legs. Onomastus is a similarly translucent genus found in southern Asia.
Characters (Jocqué & Dippenaar-Schoeman 2007): Small to large; two tarsal claws; ecribellate; entelegyne; eight eyes; carapace square-fronted with four forwardly directed eyes of which the anterior median eyes are very large.
