Sognorus

Sognorus piceus, from Brendel & Wickham (1890).

Belongs within: Pselaphitae.

Sognorus is a genus of relatively short-bodied pselaphine beetles marked by a transverse carina on the underside of the head (Raffray 1904).

Characters (Raffray 1904): Body short, thick. Antennae long, somewhat variable, male generally with a fairly marked club of four articles, but never as long as articles 3–7 taken together. Maxillary palps of four articles; the first very small, but visible; articles 2, 3, 4 penicillate; last article transverse, with a lateral appendage, its internal apical angle being rounded, mute. Underside of head with transverse carina ending on each side below the eyes, but quite far from them, in a somewhat conical tubercle.
