Yeast form of Filobasidiella neoformans, from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.

The Tremellomycetes are a clade of fungi including both yeasts and sexual forms producing gelatinous fruiting bodies.

Characters (Adl et al. 2012): Dimorphic fungi; fruiting bodies gelatinous or absent; basidia septate or nonseptate; parenthesomes sacculate or absent.
