Phalarideae

Belongs within: Pooideae.

The Phalarideae are a group of grasses bearing spikelets with three florets, though only the upper floret is perfect whereas the lower pair may be only staminate or reduced to tiny scales (Voss 1972). Phalaris is a genus with shiny lemmas that is commonly found growing in damp habitats (Hickman 1993).
