Belongs within: Lecanorales.
The Lecanoraceae are a group of fungi typically lichenised with green algae, or occasionally lichenicolous (Kirk et al. 2001).
Characters (Kirk et al. 2001): Phallus crustose to foliose, rarely lacking, usually with rhizoids. Ascomata apothecial, sessile, rarely immersed, often brightly pigmented, with well-developed lecanorine margin. Interascal tissue of simple or anastomosing paraphyses, often with pigmented epithecium. Asci with well-developed J+ apical cap, a usually well-developed ocular chamber and apical cushion, and outer layer of J+ gelatinised material. Ascospores hyaline, aseptate or septate. Anamorphs pycnidial. varied.
