Licmophora is a genus of diatoms forming flabellate clusters borne on stipes (Crosby & Ferguson Wood 1959).

Characters (Crosby & Ferguson Wood 1959): Cells flabellate, in clusters of two or more, on short or long stipes; frustules in girdle view cuneate, with apical corners slightly rounded, intercalary bands present; septa more or less superficial, appearing as lines penetrating from broad end of cell; valve view cuneate-lancellate, pseudoraphe present; plastids granular or as plates.
