
Belongs within: Molytinae.
The Mecistocerini are a group of weevils characterised by a pectoral canal extending onto the metasternum, with the sides of the canal marked by lamellae on the prosternum behind the fore coxae (Morimoto 1978). Praodes acalloides is an oval-bodied species with a minute scutellum and short metasternum with the pectoral canal reaching close to the end of the metasternum (Morimoto 1978).
Characters (from Morimoto 1978): Pectoral canal extending onto metasternum. Postcoxal part of prosternum with lamellae limiting the pectoral canal laterally. Fore coxae distant from middle coxae. Tarsal claws simple.
