Epithemia

Epithemia is a genus of epiphytic diatoms with arcuate valves (Crosby & Ferguson Wood 1959).

Characters (Crosby & Ferguson Wood 1959): Frustules epiphytic, solitary, sometimes geminate, adherent on ventral side at ends; girdle view rectangular, elliptic or sub-orbicular; valves arcuate with interior stratum or transverse septa, extending to girdle, often detached, exterior valve surface with narrow bands of puncta between costae; central and terminal nodules not easy to see.
