Belongs within: Icteridae.
Icterus, the New World orioles, is a genus of strikingly coloured birds found in North and South America. Members of this genus have a pointed bill and a long tail; males are black and yellow or orange with white markings, with females being duller.
Scott’s oriole I. parisorum, the yellow-backed oriole I. chrysater and Audubon’s oriole I. graduacauda form a clade of yellow-breasted species with varying amounts of black on the head (Fraga 2011).
