Leptothrips is a genus of blackish thrips that are predatory on mites (Mound & Marullo 1996).

Characters (from Mound & Marullo 1996): Body colour black, with purple internal pigment. Metanotum with a closely striate median elongate triangular area. Fore tarsus usually lacking a tooth. Both sexes macropterous.
