Parathuramminidae

Belongs within: Parathuramminida.

The Parathuramminidae are a group of globular Foraminifera known from the Devonian to the Lower Carboniferous, often with distinctive tubular projections. In the genus Irregularina the test is irregular in shape (Loeblich & Tappan 1964a).

Characters (Loeblich & Tappan 1964a): Globular chamber or cluster of chambers; aperture absent or multiple, at ends of tubular projections.
