Surites is a genus of ammonites known from the Ryazanian of the Lower Cretaceous in northern Eurasia and North America (Wright et al. 1996).
Characters (from Wright et al. 1996): Compressed to inflated, evolute to involute, but all forms slowly uncoiling, with many whorls exposed in umbilicus; inner and middle whorls with strong, sharp ribbing; primary ribs bifurcating at or above midside into sharp, strong secondary ribs; secondary ribs moderately to strongly projected on venter. Macroconchs variocostate, some retaining only traces of circumumbilical, bullate primary ribs or faint secondary ribs on flattened venter.
