The Tilopteridales are a lineage of brown algae characterised by isomorphic generations and a polystichous construction of the thallus.
Characters (Adl et al. 2012): Polystichous construction of thallus, which grows by a trichothallic meristem; several scattered plastids without pyrenoids; isomorphic alternation of generations; oogamous sexual reproduction.
