Belongs within: Pleosporomycetidae.
The Tubeufiaceae are a group of saprobic or biotrophic fungi, often found growing on scale insects or other fungi (Kirk et al. 2001).
Characters (Kirk et al. 2001): Ascomata perithecial, sometimes aggregated into stromata, more or less globose, thick-walled, many setose, opening by a well-developed lysigenous pore; peridium pale, fleshy, composed of small pseudoparenchymatous cells. Interascal tissue of cellular pseudoparaphyses. Asci cylindrical, fissitunicate, usually with well-developed ocular chamber, not blueing in iodine. Ascospores hyaline or pale brown, transversely septate, rarely muriform, without a sheath. Anamorphs hyphomycetous, often helicosporous.
