Amphiprora is a genus of diatoms found as single cells or short chains.

Characters (Crosby & Ferguson Wood 1959): Cells single or in ribbon-like chains of two or three cells; frustules lanceolate, acute, convex, twisted in longitudinal axis, constricted centrally; raphe confined within central keel which is twisted into an S, with central terminal nodules separated by line from other parts of valve; girdle zone complex with numerous longitudinal rows of transverse striae; valve surface punctate with transverse striae.
