Latirus is a cosmopolitan genus of heavy-shelled gastropods with a plicate columella (Wilson 1994).
Characters (Wilson 1994): Elongate to stoutly fusiform, sturdy, siphonal canal length about equal to or less than spire height; columella plicate anteriorly. Radular central teeth quadrate with three pointed basal cusps; laterals elongate with basal row of pointed subequal cusps.
