
Belongs within: Naticidae.
Polinices is a cosmopolitan genus of moon snails with a solid, glossy shell. They possess a brown corneous operculum, a medium to thick parietal callus and a partially to completely filled umbilicus. In members of the type subgenus the shell is high-spired and conical and the umbilicus is completely filled (Wilson 1993).
Characters (Wilson 1993): Ovate, solid, smooth, glossy; body whorl inflated; aperture semicircular, inner lip oblique, calloused, callus partially or completely filling umbilicus; operculum thin, horny, completely filling aperture.
