Belongs within: Rhinotermitidae.
Schedorhinotermes is an Old World tropical genus of termites in which colonies contain two different size classes of soldiers (Maiti 2006).
Characters (Maiti 2006): Imago: Head subcircular or subrectangular. Fontanelle opening forwardly with groove leading to postclypeus. Eyes subcircular, bulging out or flat. Ocelli translucent and medium size, always separated from eyes. Antennae with twenty segments, 2–4 variable. Postclypeus strongly swollen, with complete or incomplete median line and pilose, projecting in front medially. Mandibles each with apical and three marginal teeth. Left with finger-like apical, first marginal subequal to apical, second smaller than first, third almost as long as first but with long anterior margin being subequal to molar plate. Pronotum flate, both anterior and posterior margins weakly to strongly emarginate. Tibial spurs 3:2:2; tarsi four-jointed. Wings normally transparent, reticulate and hairy. Fore wing scale overlapping basal portion of hind wing scale, costa and radius thickly chitinised, median thin and running medially with three or four branches, cubitus with 10–16 branches. Hind wing with all veins originating separately from scale except median originating from radius outside scale. Major soldier: Fairly large, head and pronotum sparsely and abdomen somewhat densely hairy. Head as wide as or slightly smaller or wider than long, subrectangular to slightly narrower anteriorly. Fontanelle forwardly placed with distinct groove running up to tip of labrum. Eyes and ocelli absent. Antennae with 16–17 segments, 2–4 varied. Labrum broadest at base to almost at middle with anterior margin weakly sinuate and with fringe of hairs. Mandibles long, robust, sickle-shaped, strongly bent from middle and terminating in incurved, somewhat pointed apices. Left with two marginal teeth, right with single marginal tooth. Postmentum club-shaped. Pronotum flat, narrower than head, projected in front and weakly emarginate medially on posterior margin. Tibial spurs 3:2:2; tarsi four-jointed. Cerci two-jointed, styli single-jointed. Minor soldier as for major soldier, except body much smaller, slender and thin. Head at times pentagonal, mandibles very thin with very sharp apices and fine teeth. Labrum very long, almost reaching tips of mandibles, with bisinuate apex fringed with minute hairs. Postmentum short, more broad at waist than in major. Pronotum almost pentagonal with medially emarginate posterior margin.
