Panchaetothripinae

Greenhouse thrips Heliothrips haemorrhoidalis, photographed by Jesse Rorabaugh.

Belongs within: Thripidae.
Contains: Caliothrips.

The Panchaetothripinae are a group of leaf-feeding thrips characterised by a strong reticulate sculpture over the body surface, particularly the legs, together with fore wings with the first vein more or less fused to the costa, and transverse meso- and metathoracic furcae that lack a median spinula (Mound & Marullo 1996).
