The Phenacolepadidae are a family of limpet-like gastropods found living in cryptic environments within reefs or on sea grass (Bandel 2001).
Characters (Bandel 2001): Teleoconch conical; protoconch integrated into teleoconch by resorption of internal walls. Radula containing multiangular top quadrate small central tooth with rounded corners and simple frontal cutting edge; first intermediary tooth twice as wide as long, bearing dented cutting edge on anterior portion; three intermediary teeth of smaller size, each having a dented cutting edge; lateral tooth with several larger denticles and large cutting edge; marginal teeth numerous, with dented cutting edges and long stalks.
